Now we get cracking! There are already 15 employees working on the
layout! Wiring starts, the ceiling lighting makes progress, and the
second building phase will be opened for work. Promotion starts since
there are only 7 months left 'til the grand opening ceremony! The first
TV - stations ask for broadcast - permits, We delay this until more is
seen from the layout.. |
- While the 1. building phase takes on shape, the plans are stapled to the benchwork of the 2. phase.
- Slowly but surely, the layout shows in 3 dimensions. Later we will stack 4 hidden
staging yards in the corner.
- Well, that's what it looks like if work goes on on such a large layout. Just as a reminder:
You only see a small part of the layout!
- It's not quite clear to see but a logging line will battle the hill here while two
conventional single-track branch lines will hug the embankments of a river. We use the -
sometimes contested -Merkur roadbed for the track which later will be ballested. Naturally,
the track will be weathered with rust - color. Turnouts and signals will be adressed using
Viessmann decoders.
- Wiring starts at the lower hidden staging yard. After the 1. building phase is completed,
we'll try to figure out the approximate length of the used wires!!!
- The 2. building phase! In an area of roughly 95 m², lots of industry and a mid-sized
town will be created which will fade into a mountain range in the left corner. That is where
the main line will - just like the famous St. Gotthard line in Switzerland, will battle the
grade up to 2.20 m high. At one point the visitor can see the same train 5 times working up
it's way. On a huge bridge high above our heads the train will cross the main aisle and enter
the next room. This is nessessary in order to not obstruct the escape aisle which is in the
center of the exhibition hall. Moreover, this measure creates a very special attraction at
which you, too, will rest a while!
